ND Women Connect Wine Tasting

Our 2015-16 Membership Drive continues and covers the period from July 2015 thru June 2016. Membership Dues help the Club support our Community Service efforts and our Club Scholarship Fund for students attending Notre Dame from South Jersey. Click here for more information about this year's memberships. Effective June 1, 2016 we will begin collecting Membership Dues for next year (July 2016 thru June 2017). Please visit our site at that time to update your annual membership. Thank you.

Hesburgh Day of Service
This event has been postponed, due to forecasted weather.
On Saturday, May 21st the Notre Dame Club of South Jersey will be holding its spring Hesburgh Day of Service at St. Anthony’s Parish in Camden, NJ. The day begins with Mass at 8:30 a.m., followed by work on a number of clean-up and landscaping projects on the parish grounds. Lunch will be served, with work ending in the early afternoon. Please bring gardening gloves and tools if you have them. This is a great opportunity to spend some time with friends of Notre Dame and parishioners to help maintain St. Anthony’s, which is truly a beacon of light in the Cramer Hill neighborhood. We have been doing this twice a year for many years and is a wonderful experience volunteering with the parishioners.

Senior Alumni Golf Outing

Hesburgh Lecture & Panel
This year's Hesburgh Lecture offered by Stockton University Center On Successful Aging (SCOSA) in collaboration with the Notre Dame Club of South Jersey and the University of Notre Dame Alumni Association will feature Dr. Kwan S. Kim, Ph.D. Professor Emeritus of Economics; Fellow, Kellogg Institute for International Studies and Liu Institute for Asian Studies, all at the University of Notre Dame. Dr. Kim will speak on "The Global Poverty Gap and World Hunger". The lecture is offered as part of Stockton's International Week, sponsored by Stockton's Office of Global Engagement, and will be followed by a panel discussion of other international experts.

Boston College Game Watch
The ND Club of South Jersey is sponsoring a game watch as the Irish continue their charge to the football playoffs with a great rivalry game vs. Boston College on November 21.
We will have a private room at Tir Na Nog (formerly Dublin Square) on Evesham Rd in Cherry Hill. Game time is 7:30 PM but we have the room at 6:30 if you want to have dinner beforehand. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at Tir Na Nog. Register online now. Register online by Sunday, November 15 and get 2 raffle tickets. Register by Thursday, November 19 and get 1 raffle ticket.

The Notre Dame Club of South Jersey hosted an extremely successful tailgate for the ND-Temple Halloween Game at Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field. Over 300 ND fans joined us for the pre-game festivities. Special thanks to Greg Bergamesco for coordinating the event.

The club sponsored another Community Service Day on Saturday, October 17th at St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Camden, NJ. This was a very successful day, involving painting, landscaping and other general tasks around the parish/school complex.
The day's events were open to the whole family. Come out and join us in the Spring; it’s a great way for your high school student to earn community service hours.

Results of ND Day Fundraiser
Thanks to all who participated in the second annual ND Day on April 26th. I hope you enjoyed the 29 hours of programming by the university. Because of your participation the club was able to raise over $3,000 for the SJ Scholarship Fund
Notre Dame Day – April 26-27
On April 26-27, our University is celebrating Notre Dame Day with a 29 hour social media campaign. This campaign is providing us the opportunity to raise programming dollars for the Notre Dame Club of South Jersey scholarship fund. You can help us earn votes by passing this along to your family, friends, colleagues and members or the community.
There are various ways in which we encourage you to participate:
Starting at 6:42 pm ET on Sunday, April 26, tune-in to a live broadcast on NOTREDAMEDAY.ND.EDU. The broadcast will run for 29-hours (through midnight on April 27) and will showcase stories from across the globe about the good works being done through Notre Dame Alumni, Family and Friends, as well as live interviews, special musical performances, remotes, in-studio performances and surprise guests. You won’t want to miss this!
During this time, members of our Notre Dame family will be encouraged to make a $10 minimum gift to Notre Dame in order to cast five (5) votes* to distribute $1 Million. Our Notre Dame Club of South Jersey scholarship is eligible to receive a portion of the $1 Million in Challenge Funds, so please vote for us!
Since gifts qualify for votes, every donation has a big impact! On April 26-27, please log on to NOTREDAMEDAY.ND.EDU to give a gift of $10 in order to your receive five (5) votes*.

SJ Club nominated for Club of the Year
The South Jersey Club was one of four clubs nominated for Club of the Year in its size category. At the recent Leadership Conference at ND, the Jacksonville, FL club won the award. We congratulate the Jacksonville club for all they do in Florida and for the University. You can Click Here to read more.
SJ Club President elected to Alumni Association Regional Director
As a result of the recent Notre Dame Alumni Board Elections, the South Jersey club president, Steve Klug, was elected the next Regional Director of the Alumni Association for the NJ/NYC/So CT area. Steve will be assuming the responsibility of region director on July 1 and serve for a three year term. Steve will continue participating in SJ events but his focus will be on the region as well.
We are pleased to announce that Chris Baeckstrom, the club’s VP will be assuming the presidency of the club in July. Chris has been an active member of the club for many years and has served as VP for the past 5 years. He has been chairman of the community service initiatives and started the club’s mentoring efforts. He has some great ideas to expand the club’s influence in South Jersey.
Hesburgh Community Service and Memorial Mass - May 16, 2015
On Saturday May 16th the So Jersey Club sponsored a Fr Ted Memorial Mass and community service day at St Anthony's of Padua Parish in Camden. The memorial mass began at 8:30. Those who stayed for the community service initiative gathered in the church’s auditorium at approximately 9:15am. We worked on various projects hat day, including gardening, painting and general cleanup. Lunch followed the service work.
OCPBA 5K Race, 2K Walk and Kid Races – June 13th
The So Jersey Club is partnering with the Ocean City NJ PBA to help sponsor the OCPBA Ocean City Police Chase 5K Race and 2K Walk Saturday June 13th. The race starts at 8am at 6th and the Boardwalk with registration at the OC high school track. After the race the OCPBA will host a series of short dash races on the track for kids ages 5-12. There is no charge for the kid races and all children will receive a ribbon and a chance to win a bicycle. All proceeds from the race will benefit the OCPBA Association who support Scholarships for High School Seniors, Christmas Toy Drive and other community projects. The club sponsored another Community Service Day on Saturday, Sept 20th. Thanks for all your help. The day started with mass at 8:30 followed by 4 hours of community service (painting, carpentry and general cleanup). The service event was followed by a wonderful lunch. UND Night Celebration
The South Jersey Club hosted its annual UND celebration on Saturday, October 25th from 6:00-9:30 pm at Ramblewood Country Club in Mount Laurel. Our guest speaker was the Associate Director Prof & Acad - Alumni Association, Sharon E. Keane The evening began at 6:00 with a cocktail reception (cash bar) & appetizers followed by dinner at 6:45. After dinner Sharon presented an update from campus. This is our annual club gathering and a chance for our members to come together for an update on our great university. Hesburgh Lecture at Stockton - Nov 18
Professor Lamberti (ND Biological Sciences) will be our Hesburgh Lecturer on The World Water Crisis on Tuesday November 18th, at approximately 6pm. He’ll also participate on a panel discussion at 4:30, which will include a representative from the United Nations, Johns Hopkins, Stockton, and the Pinelands commission. SSL Interns Help Make Camden Better Place
The SJ Club sponsored 3 students to work in Camden. Rebecca Jhung from the Seattle area and Leila Green from Milwaukee spent 8 weeks at St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Camden. They worked with the grade school students, gave assistance to the HIV positive and poor who frequent the Francis House and worked with the parish community on various projects. South Jersey Club Mentoring Program
You can change the life of a child. The South Jersey Notre Dame Club has partnered with the Catholic Partnership Schools of Camden to make a positive impact on children by mentoring students in sixth through eight grade. The program was kicked off with Club members at our adopted parish, St. Anthony's. We are now looking to expand the number of mentors from both within and outside the Club. This way we can also expand the number of students who can receive the mentoring which is so important in a young person's life.
If you're interested in learning more and receiving the Mentoring Guide, email Chris Baeckstrom at firstname.lastname@example.org. The Guide will explain the requirements and commitments as well as provide lots of information on what it's like to be a mentor.
